I am a proud supporter for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis disease

Hi, Im Sarah the person behind Long Neck Creations. 

 

I started crocheting 14 years ago from my mother in law and after a year or so of practising different crochet techniques I started making crochet animals also known as amigurumi, and now around 14 years later I can crochet with my eyes closed as its such a natural and relaxing hobby.

 

When I started making my crochet creations they quickly piled up and took over my coffee table, storage containers and bookshelves. So I decided to start attending markets, so I could share my crochet with you all. As they make wonderful unique gifts.

My crochet hobby now is a life line for my mental health. As I was diagnosed with Endometriosis (Endo for short) and Adenomyosis which both are severe. Severe to the point that so far I have had 7 surgeries to try and help pain levels and slow the growth/spreading. Which unfortunately my endometriosis has spread to other organs and also caused an unexpected hemorrhage in my 2022 surgery.

So I do spend a lot of time bed/couch bound due to my endo and crochet is something I can do in a hospital bed, my own bed or couch. Being able to crochet alongside doing 6-8 markets a year really helps my mental health, without it I honestly wouldn't be in a good mental space at all, given all the other hobbies I used to do before my diagnosis I can't do anymore. As anyone would I am always hoping one day a cure or better treatment is found so I can get out more and not be so bed bound or needing a small army of friends and family helping me attend markets.

I am very lucky to have a wonderful support system of family and friends who are so generous in helping me with the markets, which I look forward to attending everyone given I can't do much else and I am so, so thankful for this therapy option which is supported by my specialists.
